Liver­pool chef El­lis Bar­rie won a cov­eted place in the fi­nals of this year’s BBC2 ‘The Great Bri­tish Menu’ se­ries. It was his win­ning fish dish, a mackerel tartare called ‘53rd mil­lionth baby’ which, he ex­plained, was in honour of the nurs­ing staff who de­liv­ered his lit­tle boy. This se­ries has been cel­e­brat­ing sev­enty years of the NHS.
