It marked the end of a spectacular week for chef Simon Martin and the team at MANA. A restaurant moving faster than a runaway train, this Ancoats dining destination has already picked up a long list of awards including their first Michelin star and a raft of Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards. The talented chef does what it takes to succeed - he left behind one of the world’s best restaurants, NOMA, in Copenhagen , to set up his own restaurant. Pride is taken in sourcing the best ingredients with fermented produce - first started at Simon’s home before the restuarant was launched and the talented kitchen team turn out a jaw-dropping tasting menu. This is the one to watch.
‘In my 29 years, this has been the most memorable week of my life,’ said Simon. ‘And this award really is the icing on the cake. I’m so pleased. We’ve had a Michelin star, four MFDF awards and now this - six awards in a week and we’re 11 months in. That’s a lot to take in. It takes a lot of hard work, but it’s hard work for everyone in this industry. We have an amazing team who are always pushing on and I’m really fortunate to have them.
‘I’m just so pleased, it’s crazy, but just fantastic.’
