Twisted invest for the future

-

HOT OFF the back of announcing its attendance at the Top Marques event in Monaco, Twisted Automotive is set to invest £100,000 to expand its capabilities. Up until now, the Thirsk-based Defender specialist has relied upon third-party companies to undertake bodywork and paintshop processes, but now it has its own LR (Land Rover) coachworks division to bring everything in-house. Along with dedicated workshops to undertake the paint and bodywork processes, Twisted has also recruited an experienced team of ex-land Rover technicians to undertake the work.

The business has made four new appointments in total. Chris Johnson joins Twisted as the new Floor Operations Director, to co-ordinate all processes within the workshop, while the new, dedicated LR coachworks team consists of paint sprayers Paul Thomson, Eddie Doyle and David Douglas, recruited from the original Defender manufacturer.

Joining the four new recruits is business consultant, Beth Elsdon, who has been tasked with looking at the internal operations and making plans for strengthening the team and structure ahead of growth plans. As founder and Managing Director Charles Fawcett’s role becomes more strategic and less hands-on there is now an opportunity to bring on board an operations manager to bridge that gap, and they’ve brought Beth on board to pave the way for that to happen at a later stage.

The expansion of the business comes as Twisted prepares to unveil a new long-term strategy, with further announcements outlining the specialist’s plans for the future. Charles will also reveal what he has in store for the last remaining brand-new Defender, which he purchased when production ceased in 2016. He said: “It’s an exciting time for Twisted and I look forward to seeing what these future new recruits will bring to the business. As any business owner will know, things never stand still and you need to grow and evolve. We have some big plans for the months and years ahead, and we can’t wait to share them with our customers.”
