OUR BUMPER July issue has been specifically crafted to inspire readers into action. We have trawled the globe to find stories of people doing incredible trips in their Land Rovers. It’s that lovely time of the year when the days get longer and the birds wake you with their happy songs, so pile the family, dogs and mother-in-law into the Land Rover and explore. Not all of us can undertake costly trips to far-flung places but you really don’t have to. There is an adventure waiting to be had on your very doorstep. You just have to be open to finding it! Why not try greenlaning in mid Wales? See my feature on page 50 to find out which lanes are not to be missed.

Our cover Defender (the capable camper) is owned by the friendly Roger Gowing from Devon. Roger very wisely listened to his wife and added a shower and a toilet to his very impressive Defender’s camping and off-roading

set-up. This part-time off-road instructor certainly knows his stuff and has created something that will not only get him over the toughest tracks, it will also ensure a very comfy night of rest.

Another inspirational story is that of David Elfe and Carlotta Steca, who spent 2000 hours turning their Classic Range Rover into a home away from home. They are currently exploring Europe in it. See more on page 68. Then turn to page 86 for the inspiring tale of the inexperienced German Geographers who explored Africa in a standard Series III, which just goes to show that when a Land Rover rolls out of a production facility it is expedition-ready in its standard form! Just add water, food and your passport and you are good to go... Although you might want to check out our latest choice of overlanding products on page 20 first!
