TOOLS: General workshop tools including 20, 18, 15 and 10 mm spanners and sockets, ramp or post lift, metal saw and a heat source possibly in the form of an oxy acetylene or gas torch kit.
PARTS & COSTS: Always use your Discovery’s VIN number, model year and engine to check for the correct part number. There are various part numbers for this section of exhaust pipe. WCD501630, Discovery 3 all 2.7 V6 diesel models with EC2 emissions from 7A000001 to 8A477928; Discovery 3 all 2.7 V6 diesel manual models with EC2 emissions from (VIN) 8A477929 on, around £1431; WCD502490, Discovery 3, all 2.7 V6 diesel automatic models with EC2 emissions from (VIN) 8A477929; around £650. Various used downpipe with catalyst sections of exhaust pipe available from Land Rover breaker yards and on internet auction sites. ESR3737, exhaust manifold gasket, from 50p £8.60 depending on make.
