Patrick gets new tyres and takes them laning
Irecently posted a photo of one of my front tyres on Insta, it was fairly worn on the outside edge of the tread due to a previous tracking problem. I don’t think my prolonged Defender death wobble saga did it any good either. Sean Maddocks, the Sales Director for Davanti Tyres saw said photo and sent me a private message and asked if I wanted to try a set of their Terratoura A/T tyres? For those that don’t know Davanti is a fast-growing UK tyre company who very recently made a foray into the off-road market with their Terratoura A/T tyres. They are also the official partner of Everton Football Club, have the energetic driving ace Edd Cobley as a brand ambassador and, more importantly, they are the tyre of choice for the North West 4x4 Response Group.
True to his word Sean had five tyres delivered to my house and as I was heading out laning soon (see page 48) I wanted them fitted as quickly as possible. Sean suggested I use Faz from Specialist Tyres in Letchworth. Boy am I glad that I did. Faz runs a very friendly and efficient specialist fitment centre. He prides himself in the quality of his work and the fact that he knows how to properly fit tyres without damaging expensive alloys. Despite only being slight in frame Faz was throwing those wheels and tyres about like he was competing in a strongman competition on what was a very hot day by British standards.
I sat with my main man @wisefool.m3 (that is his Insta title and not real name) sipping on a complimentary milkshake while Faz worked his magic. Wise Fool was here to have some snazzy new wheels fitted to his BMW M3. I asked him what our vehicles had in common? He did not know. I told him that I had a factory fitted BMW M52 engine in my Defender. I popped my bonnet and revealed the truth. We were like brothers in cars. It did not take Faz long to fit all five wheels and tyres. Actually it might have but I did not
