TIME TO FIT A TRACKER

A GPS tracker is one of the best ways to protect yourself against Land Rover theft

-

LAND Rover thefts are on the up in the United Kingdom. Not a day goes by without one or more of them being nicked. When some Land Rover owners wake up in the morning, the first thing they do is check to see if their Land Rover is still there. Imagine how that makes their partners feel? You can put a steering guard, pedal guard, cut-off switch and a host of other security measures in place and the thieves will still be tempted to try and steal it. Statistics show they are succeeding. What about a deterrent that is hidden from sight? One that gives you and the police the capability to track in live time, exactly where the thieves have taken your precious Land Rover. Yes, we are talking about a GPS tracker, which has the potential to help you recover your stolen Land Rover.

The Heritage Insurance Brokers has recognised the value of the GPS tracker to their customers and have partnered with Skytag Limited, the providers of GPS trackers and related services. Now all Heritage Insurance customers can request a free Skytag GPS tracker device. This can be done by calling 0121 248 9442 or else see heritageinsurance.co.uk.

While the Skytag GPS tracker might be free it is worth noting that the actual GPS tracking is a subscription service. So, once you have ordered your tracker, Skytag will be in touch to ask which of the three tracker services you prefer? There is standard tracking (£79.99 per year), active tracking (£127.99) and live tracking (£150 a year).

The tracker is not very difficult to fit and it comes with instructions. Although it has an internal battery it does need a power source, which can be found all over your Land Rover. Each of the services has great benefits and features. In standard tracking you will receive a SMS if the main vehicle battery is disconnected. With Active Tracking there is a Nightsafe function so if your Land Rover moves at 3am you are alerted. While Live Tracking is exactly as the name suggests, log in onto the Skytag website and see every 5 minutes where the vehicle has moved to.

Skytag once recovered a Series II for a young man who was distraught when it was stolen, it had been his grandfathers, who had taught him to drive in it on the family farm when he was just six years old. When grandfather died the Series II was left to him and so he had it restored to factory specification. When stolen, it felt like another death in the family but thankfully it had a Skytag GPS tracker and the police were able to recover it. The above true story is just one of many that highlight the benefits of having a GPS tracker device in your Land Rover. A tracker could be the difference between getting your stolen Land Rover back… or not.
