Land Rover Monthly

Now that’s what I call winter…

-

I am an avid fan of Land Rover Monthly and read it from cover to cover. I live in Edmonton, Canada and I’m a member of the Alberta Land Rover Enthusiast Club. I have a 1971 Series IIA that I rebuilt from the ground up, which was imported to Canada in 1972 and has been in the country ever since.

I have the log of all the past owners and my rebuild was published in two editions of the former Land Rover Enthusiast magazine several years ago. After I rebuilt it, my wife and I, along with two sons, undertook a 4000-mile camping trip through the USA.

I also have a 1996 110 Defender 300Tdi that is my camping and fishing truck, plus a 1981 two-door Range Rover that I am rebuilding. The Range Rover came out of Saudi Arabia, which was where it was imported to in 1981.

The Defender has twice been on the Alexander Mackenzie Trai, which is an amazing off-road trail from Quesnel to Bella Coola in western Canada. If you look on Youtube you can see a movie that I made of the trip for our club in 2018, which includes all the information about the trail. Go to: youtubecomwatch?v=konik2aa-50

I also loved the article about Richard Hall, the man behind the Norfolk Garage in the Winter issue. I always wondered why the article each month was so well written and interesting, and that was revealed by the fact that he is an Oxford scholar as well as an expert in old Land Rovers.

So to all those who are involved with the production of the magazine, keep the good work up. I always look forward to receiving and reading the next edition and find the articles well-written and interesting, with wonderful images.

Jeffrey Smallhorn Thank you for your kind words and your insight into extreme winter Land Rovering in Canada – Ed.
