Tackling the interior

When removing the body, whether Series, Defender or Discovery – I start with interior jobs in the cab and the load bay, disconnecting the rear lights so the wiring loom can be fed out of the body and remain with the chassis. There are two reasons for tackling the interior first. When the vehicle is on the lift, cab access is restricted because the posts of the lift prevent the doors opening fully. It’s also safer to work inside the vehicle when it’s on the ground – it is not good practise to work inside a raised vehicle, and should be avoided
