IT’S mid-march as I type this but the camping tickets for the Billing Off-road Show to be held at the end of June have already sold out. Yes, you read that right. Never before in the illustrious history of this popular show (which LRM is proud to be closely associated with) has that happened.
I guess Land Rover lovers are looking forward to going off-roading, camping and buying gear (not to be confused with beer) again. Who can blame them? It’s been a while. Hopefully things will continue to improve in Britain so that you might be able to enjoy some sort of a normal summer.

The one thing I do know is that my seven-year-old son Isaac has missed Land Rover shows the past 12 months, they are a happy part of his life. He used to sit for hours and watch the radio control Land Rovers when he was just a baby. Now he has his own yellow RC4WD radio control Defender 90 and is already talking about the black Discovery 1 that I am going to buy him for his 17th birthday.
The show itself is a weekend affair, but I’ve promised Isaac a school night camp-out at Billing in the week leading up to the show. There will be others there too, but I like the relative quiet before the weekend crowds, when dad and lad can bond around a fire and I can teach Isaac important life skills, like how to BBQ, make a fire or fix something that has broken on my Land Rover . . . or else just walk around looking for a black Disco 1 for sale.
