Anyone for a swim?

I had to chuckle when I read Dave Phillips’ article on the daft Discovery driver who tried to drive the A1101 across Welney Wash in the Fens when it was under four feet of water – with the predictable result – a written-off car.

I live a few miles away and know the area well and over the years I have seen dozens of Land Rovers, as well as other 4x4s, suffer a similar fate attempting the impossible. Land Rovers have a go-anywhere reputation, but there are limits! I sometimes think lemmings have got more sense than some drivers. Paul Brown March, Cambridgeshire
