WHAT TO LOOK FOR…
All Series Is are at least 63 years old now. They may have alloy outer panels, but anything steel does rust. Rear crossmembers, chassis rails, outriggers, spring hangars, dumb irons and bulkheads all corrode. Remember these cars had years of simply being kept going as working vehicles. Check for non-standard modifications, or poor repair workmanship. So-called ‘bitsas’ abound: original, aged vehicles are in demand over non-standard creations.
