New year, new car?

- Patrick Cruywagen @busheditor

IF I had a fiver for every time someone posted something on social media about what a diabolical year 2021 was, then I would never have to work again. Ever. We lost friends, had our movements restricted and tried our best to deal with all the other fallouts from the pandemic.

Yet, despite all of the above, I still try to look on the bright side of life, and perhaps a few others should, as well. Just like the Jungle Book anthem has instructed us to. Many used their extra free time to do extraordinary things to their Land Rovers and we featured several of these stories in LRM.

Despite the tough market conditions the magazine had a solid 2021 but we could not have done it without our great advertisers, loyal subscribers and happy readers. You all make LRM great. So, a massive thanks to you from our little team at LRM. We certainly hope that all of your Land Rover dreams come true in 2022. If anyone deserves that, it is you.

I’m excited about 2022 as we have much to look forward to. In the last issue we announced that we have just purchased the popular 4x4, Land Rover and Vintage Spares Days, which are normally held at the Newbury and Malvern showgrounds. The first of these is at Malvern on February 27, 2022, which is only a few weeks away. This is will be the Malvern 4x4, Land Rover and Vintage Spares Day plus the Tractor World Parts and Spares Day. I know many Land Rover owners who also like tractors so now you have two good reasons to join us there. If you want to book a stand or just buy tickets then go to 4x4sparesday.co.uk. You will also be able to see the dates of future 4x4, Land Rover and Vintage Spares Days.

On a personal level what does 2022 have in store for me? I would love another Land Rover, one that does not do 20 mpg as the crazy fuel price increases are hurting me. Maybe a Discovery 1? Any suggestions?

Last year I paddled the River Great Ouse and ran the London Marathon. This year I am planning a physical challenge supported by Land Rovers. All will be revealed soon. Then I want to continue to help produce a magazine that contains your and other incredible Land Rover stories.

Please feel free to get in contact if you think you have a Land Rover story to tell. Also feel free to give your views on the current issue. Email me at patrick@lrm.co.uk. Have a happy 2022 and I look forward to hearing from you.
