Simmering white vinegar can help to neutralise unpleasant odours. Approximat­ely 8½fl oz (250ml) of white vinegar is heated on a medium heat. Once simmering, the heat is reduced and the pan left until the offending odour has vanished. Care is taken that the pan does not boil dry. The initial smell of vinegar will soon disperse.
