Poetic influence

-

After reading about, and seeing photographs of, snowdrops in the Jan/Feb 2016 issue of Land Scape, thought I’d send you a poem inspired by those in our back garden.

Snowdrops

In a quiet corner bare The snowdrops nodded as in a dream. How lovely they are – Their white heads gleam. And circling round their tiny petals We see the shiny, pale green sepals. How beautiful are these tiny flowers Amongst the sleet and snowy showers. Let’s leave them in their frosty sleep Till Spring approaches from Winter deep. Marian Bythell, by email
