INSPIRING ANIMALS
The Chillingham wild cattle have frequently been depicted in art. The most famous representation is the engraving The Chillingham Bull by the Northumberland artist Thomas Bewick in 1789 (below), now in London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. In 1867, the landscape artist Edwin Landseer depicted a majestic bull standing protectively over his cow and calf in The Wild Cattle of Chillingham.
