Scent and light
The vibrant blooms of sweet Williams, Dianthus barbatus, carry a clove-like scent. Sown the previous July, they flower prolifically through the summer months in shades of pink, white, red and purple. Woven with Alchemilla mollis and grass to form a circle around a glass jar, they make an attractive table decoration for a meal outdoors. Warmth from the candle’s flame brings out the rich fragrance of the deep pink flowers.
