Robins in the spotlight
First published in 1943, David Lack’s ground-breaking study of the robin completely changed the way these birds were perceived. It has now been reissued with an introduction by birder David Lindo. The author’s son Peter, another keen ornithologist, has written a postscript examining the impact of his father’s work. Finally a second postscript by David Harper provides an update on modern studies of this well-loved bird. This answers Lack’s call to continue the quest for knowledge.
