Creating an outdoor tree

Once the festive tree has been shaped to suit the home, any offcuts are used to create an outdoor counterpart. Four sticks of decreasing length are lashed with twine across a central ‘trunk’ to form a skeletal tree shape. Short sprigs of evergreen are secured to each of the cross pieces, working from bottom to top, creating the triangular outline. Decorations are added for interest. Hung from a contrasting door, the tree brings seasonal cheer to the garden.
