Book of memories
At a time when many people worked in service, Mothering Sunday became a special day for families. It became traditional for children working in other households to be given the day off to visit their mothers, usually taking a present. Today, creating a family scrapbook is a simple way of following this lovely idea. It does not have to be elaborate. Contents can include pressed examples of a mother’s favourite flowers. Photographs, drawings, maps of places visited, and other family mementos can all be included. Leaving blank pages at the end allows new items to be added over time.
