SeaShell CandleS

-

Shells gathered from the high tide line form delicate holders for home-made candles to create lingering memories of a day at the beach

Simple arrangement OF home-made shell candles in a sand-filled dish appear to float like flame-sailed boats on water. Using just melted wax and wicks, they are both easy to make and effective. Any medium-sized or large shell can be used, as long as it has a depth of at least ½in (13mm) and is in good condition. Cockle, mussel, whelk and oyster shells all work well. They should be washed thoroughly in hot water, then drained and spread on a tea towel to dry.
