Apple tree’s spring show
The beautiful blossom of a ‘Cox’s Orange Pippin’ has pink petals when it first appears as buds, fading to white as the season progresses. Appearing between April and June, these large, fivepetalled blooms scent the air with a beautiful sweet aroma. ‘Cox’s Orange Pippin’ was bred in the 1820s by Richard Cox in Colnbrook, Berkshire. A pippin is a crisp apple with yellow or greenish-yellow skin strongly flushed with red. This is one of the most popular eating apples in Britain.
