Kitchen taBle facelift
A pretty new tablecloth can refresh the look of the kitchen. Making one to measure ensures the perfect fit, regardless of table size. A tablecloth should overhang the edge by 10-12in (25-30cm). Larger overhangs can get in diners’ way, or even be accidentally pulled off the table. For a large square or rectangular table, the length and width are measured and the preferred amount of overhang added, plus a 3in (7.5cm) allowance on each side. When the fabric is cut, a hem is turned up and tacked, with each corner mitred to reduce bulk. Machine stitching secures each edge before the cloth is pressed to finish.
