Inspired by an expert in lace
When I saw there was an article about Pat Perryman (Jan/Feb 2017 issue), I had to buy LandScape. I learned to make lace in the 1980s, and lived in Buckinghamshire at the time, so it was Bucks lace we made. But we also covered the other lace styles, Bedfordshire, Torchon and then Honiton. I don’t think I did a workshop with Pat, but I certainly had her books, and I know I did a workshop with Cynthia Voysey, whom she mentions. After about three years, I was asked to take a class of 20 nine and 10-year-old boys and girls, but when the National Curriculum came in, it all had to stop. Now I hand spin my own yarns. Here is a photo of a piece of my Honiton lace. It is not very good, but is certainly a start! Pam Mitchell, Somerset
