True blue of native berries
I enjoyed the blueberry recipes in the May/June 2017 issue of LandScape, but I think people are beginning to think blueberries are native to England. We have our own here, the bilberry, also known as whortleberry or blaeberry, which grows on moors and in woods in Scotland. You can also grow them at home. They are not tart, but I find a little lemon juice helps. Catherine Koppana, Newark LandScape says: Our native bilberries were featured in the July/August 2014 issue - and we agree they are lovely.
