A simple food tin is easily transformed into an attractive container by wrapping a length of brightly-coloured cord around the outside. It can then be suspended from a window handle to display a small flowering plant or spring posy. Firstly, any label is removed and the can washed. A suitable glue is applied to the outside, approximately one third up from the base so it does not dry before the cord is wound in place. Glue is then applied to the middle third and finally the top third as the cord encircles the tin. Contrasting twine can be added to the base and rim and fastened to form a handle. A pretty ribbon round the middle adds the final touch.
