Flounces of pink

-

The peony is exceptionally long-lived and can survive for up to 50 years in favourable conditions. It comes into flower in late spring, with enormous blousy blooms in pink, yellow, white or scarlet. To show well, peonies should be planted in well-drained soil and full sunlight. The heads are so heavy and opulent that they will often bow the stem and benefit by being supported with stakes. When cut, they can last for up to 10 days, and need only a simple arrangement, matching well with large daisies and light umbellifers.
