Welcome garden guests
Last summer, I planted a crab apple tree in an attempt to make my garden more wildlife friendly. During the spell of cold and snow, I was visited by some fieldfares. They only stayed a few days until the snow melted and the crab apples were eaten. I have never seen these countryside birds in my suburban garden before, but I did enjoy their brief visit and hope they will come again. Hazel Watt, Lincolnshire
