SALAD BITE
Globe-shaped kohlrabi, with its randomly sprouting stems, has a distinctive appearance. It is commonly seen piled high in farmers’ markets at this time of year or tucked into vegetable boxes. A brassica with a sweet, slightly hot taste, it has a pleasing crunch which makes it ideal for slicing into salads or serving with dips. The entire vegetable can be eaten and its leaves used in place of spinach or kale. Kohlrabi is extremely high in vitamin C, with 100g containing more than the entire daily recommended intake.
