FRESH KITCHEN
Keeping the kitchen compost bin odour free becomes increasingly important in the warmer months. Using a pail made from metal tends to repel odour most effectively, and a tightly fitting lid, lined with newspaper, helps keep any bad smells contained. Lining the base of the tub also helps to absorb moisture, and bad smells decompose quickly in the garden. Emptying the tin every couple of days and cleaning it thoroughly helps to reduce the build-up of bacteria. On very warm days, scraps can be stored in a bag in the freezer.
