Dipped in colour

-

Fabric napkins are given a fresh twist by adding a subtle contrasting stripe. Two bowls of dye are prepared in red and blue tones. After being washed and dried, the napkins are folded in half lengthways. They are then held by the corners and lowered into the dye so that the fold of material is immersed. Gloves are worn and care taken not to transfer dye onto other surfaces, as it can be hard to remove. After sitting in the dye, the napkins are lifted out, rinsed in cold water and washed again, according to fabric type.
