Precious birds of prey in danger
I was particularly interested in your article on red kites, which I have always been fascinated by, in the May issue of LandScape. Though persecution was mentioned, I wonder how many are aware of the killing of not only red kites, but other raptors, such as golden eagles, hen harriers and buzzards, all of which are, supposedly, protected birds. The use of satellite tracking devices has shown how vulnerable these birds are, not only in Scotland, but particularly over the grouse moors of the North of England. Catherine Roche, via email
