Dancing with worms

I had to smile when I read your piece in the May issue of LandScape about the Festival of Wormcharming. A few years ago, when I was a member of a Scottish country dancing group, I was dancing at a local garden party. The weather had been quite wet, but we duly did our reel and strathspey dances when we were suddenly surrounded by lots of worms. The beating of our feet had obviously brought them to the surface. Trying not to laugh, we finished our dance, returned for a cup of tea, then had a giggle about what had happened. Katherine King, North Yorkshire
