Fresh From the larder

-

It is easy for old tins or jars of food to accumulate in the larder, gathering dust until they are out of date. A good clear-out at the beginning of autumn will ensure that all kitchen staples are to hand and in good condition. First, the larder is emptied out and any expired foodstuffs disposed of. Everything is put back in order to make it easy to find and to spot what needs replenishing. A list is made of any missing items and new ingredients purchased. Dried foods are stored in airtight containers, and any fresh eggs are marked with the date in pencil.
