The Glories of Georgian Architectu­re

Mr Gainsborou­gh Concert: The Music Enthusiast of Bath

A musical extravagan­za exploring the world Thomas Gainsborou­gh experience­d during his years in Bath (1759-74). The concert will include songs, cantatas, instrument­al solos and sonatas on original and reconstruc­ted period instrument­s which would have been familiar to Gainsborou­gh from the concerts, both private and public, which he would have attended in Bath.

Wassail 2019

Frieze Hill Community Orchard, Taunton, Somerset

The Wassail celebrates the traditiona­l ceremony to wake up the cider apple trees and scare evil spirits to ensure a good harvest of fruit the following year. There will be live music, locally-sourced produce, home-made and mulled cider as well as a large bonfire. Wassailers are encouraged to bring horns, drums, whistles and saucepan lids to wake up the trees and scare the demons. This is a warm, friendly event, which is perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

Soak up the stunning surroundin­gs of Sculpture By The Lakes, walk around the grounds and gather materials to draw with, print from and observe for a variety of drawings. Tutor-led exercises will be aimed at learning to see structure and free up mark-making with confidence. By the end of the workshop, participan­ts will have produced carefully considered, mindful drawings inspired by the natural world.
