Wave of inspiration
The article in the July 2018 issue on Jane Reeves’ glass paintings was the perfect inspiration for my first foray into making contemporary lace. I have been making traditional bobbin lace for the last five years and wanted a new project. LandScape was the stimulus for my creation, entitled The Wave. It took four months and was completed using 108 bobbins and a variety of threads and fibres. The finished lace ‘sculpture’ measures approximately 1ft (30cm) long and 4in (10cm) high. Wire makes the shape of a breaking wave. When I look at it, I am reminded of Jane’s talent, shared thanks to your wonderful magazine. Leona Thomas, Edinburgh
