A STREAK OF COLOUR
A little paint applied to a wooden staircase can have a dramatic effect on an entrance hall. A stripe down the centre of the steps echoes the country tradition of a stair runner, with a more contemporary twist. When painting, it is essential to maintain a straight line on either side, so edging the desired width with masking tape ensures a neat finish. A subtle shade of the chosen colour is recommended, and the paint can be lightly sanded afterwards for a more rustic feel.
