REMOTE BEACHES

-

As the coast path wends its way east, then north towards Tintagel, 8 miles from Port Isaac, it passes stunning beaches nestled at the base of towering, craggy cliffs. Tregardock is one of these: a rural and remote beach to explore at low tide. It is accessed by a footpath through farmland, with a scramble down rocks to reach the beach. Its relatively tricky access means that it is never crowded. Trebarwith Strand is a more readily accessible beach, 6 miles along the coast path from Port Isaac or 8½ by road. Just offshore, muscular Gull Rock dominates the view; waves breaking around its base in windy weather. At low tide, the beach is fine and sandy, with rocks and caves to explore. North of Trebarwith, the coast path passes above smaller beaches, such as Hole and Bagalow, which are not easily accessible other than at very low tide, when they can be reached on foot from Trebarwith. However, caution is advised here, as it is easy to become cut off by incoming tides or big swells.

?? ?? Bossiney Haven, north of Tintagel, is a small sandy inlet surrounded by cliffs. It has a wonderful beach at low tide.
