HOW TO MAKE THE BRACELETS

-

Step 1: Danny holds down a piece of card on the table as Amber draws around the circumference of an upturned jar with a pencil. The circle is then cut out.

Step 2: The centre point of the disc is marked on the card. Amber then pushes a pencil through to make a larger hole.

Step 3: Slits are cut around the edge of the circle, approximately ¾in (2cm) long. A cut is made at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions followed by a cut halfway between each, to make eight slits in total.

Step 4: Seven strands of wool are knotted at one end. The knot is pushed through the central hole.

Step 5: A different strand is slotted through all but one of the slits. The empty slit is turned so it is at the top of the circle.

Step 6: The strand in the slit to the right of the bottom strand is moved into the empty top slit. This leaves another slit empty. The card is rotated so the new empty slit is at the top and the process repeated. Gradually, the woven bracelet emerges through the hole. Once the bracelet reaches the desired length, a knot is made ½cm along from where the weave finishes. The bracelet is removed from the card and the hanging ends trimmed. It is fastened by pushing the starting knot through the strands of wool between the end of the weave and the end knot.
