HOW TO MAKE THE PLANT HOLDER

-

Step 1: The eight strands of 5m cord are threaded through the wooden ring at exactly the centre point.

A 1m piece of cord is folded up at one end by 4in (10cm) to create a U shape. This is placed on top of the strands, just below the ring. The long end is then wrapped around eight times, leaving a 1in (2.5cm) tail at the top and taking care not to cover the loop at the bottom. The long end is pushed through the loop. The short end is then pulled upwards until the loop and the long end are trapped underneath and halfway up the wrap. Both ends are cut off neatly. This is a wrapped knot.

Step 2: The 16 hanging strands are divided into four groups of four and four square knots tied in each: see instructions below. These are made directly below the wrapped knot.

Step 3: Dropping down 2in (6cm) a group of four more square knots are tied. This is repeated until there are 3 x 6cm drops and four groups of four square knots in total. This is repeated for each group of four strands.

Step 4: New groups of four strands are made by taking two strands from each adjacent original group of four and making a single square knot in each new group. This splitting of the strands is repeated, making another single knot 4in (11cm) down the cord. Dropping a further 6in (15cm), all the strands are bound together with a 1m length of cord in another wrapped knot.
