KNITTED BOTTLE SLEEVE

-

Unwanted bottles are the perfect height for storing knitting needles. Adding a sleeve to each bottle showcases the purpose of their contents and also makes a simple storage solution more textural and decorative. Here, jute twine, cotton parcel string and striped butcher’s twine are knitted in garter or stocking stitch until a piece is created that is long enough to wrap around the widest part of the chosen bottle. The stitches are then cast off and the two ends sewn together to form a band which should fit snuggly around the bottle without slipping down. The number of stitches required can be varied, depending on the bottle height.

“A work of utility might also be a work of art if we cared to make it so”

William Morris
