From rags to sturdy shopping bags

-

I have enjoyed reading the latest issue of LandScape magazine, February 2021, and came across the item ‘Patches and Texture’ about making patchwork cushions. It reminded me of the patchwork bags I have made over recent years, using remnants, scraps of material and recycled clothing, and inspired me to make one. The back pocket from a pair of men’s trousers made a handy pocket on the front of the bag, and the fabric is very strong for the back of the bag, so is good for heavy groceries. I also line them with contrasting fabric, so they are super strong. I have made bags for myself and my family, given them to fundraising stalls and have sold some at the local Helston Country Market. Some people especially like the fact that they use recycled fabrics. Elizabeth Goodfellow, Cornwall
