SWEET SHOP OF COLOURS
Thoughtful planting schemes that include a combination of tall perennials and ground-covering plants will help to create an impactful border without the need for much maintenance. Low-growing plants, such as pastel blue forget-me-nots, have a spreading habit and are freely self-seeding, naturalising borders and covering them in swathes of colour. Once established, they require very little care and suppress the germination of weeds, so control measures are not needed. Pairing these with taller perennials adds texture and depth to the border. Here, candy-coloured tulips in shades of gold and mulberry-pink rise above a dense carpet of pale blue. Contrasting bright colours with pastel shades helps to heighten their vibrancy and create a dazzling display.
