SPRING AMONG THE SHELVES

-

Growing dainty April flowers for display in the kitchen enables the colour and scent of their blooms to be enjoyed while cooking. The tiny blue pearls of grape hyacinth combined with the indigo-purple and gold accented blossoms of Iris reticulata are offset by vivid pink tulips and fresh greenery, which allows the colours to shine. Pretty patterned crockery, such as jugs and teacups, make unusual containers for the plants, and the effect can be enhanced by choosing ones in complementary shades which highlight the bright tones of the flowers. Arranging the blooms on a shelving unit within view of where food is prepared allows their beauty to be enjoyed and brings the vibrancy of the season into the kitchen.
