WOVEN PLACE MAT

-

Eye-catching table mats made from strips of map woven together can be used to display a jug of flowers or as part of a table setting to provide diners with interest once the meal is over. Utilising maps that include memorable places or landmarks from a favourite holiday helps to create a talking point and the opportunity to share cherished memories. The map grid forms a guide to cut the strips, which should be slightly longer than the size of the finished mat. These are woven together. This may be tricky at first, but once a few strips are woven, the mat will hold its form. When the desired size is reached, each end is neatly folded over and stuck down to hold the strips in place. If the mats become tatty, they can be recycled and new ones made.
