Basic egg cosy (make 1 per character)

Using 4mm needles, cast on 37sts in DK yarn. Bunny – pale grey

Chicken – beige

Lamb – cream

Chick – yellow

Row 1: k (ws)

Row 2 to 5: rpt row 1

Row 6 to 21: beg with a k row stst 15 rows

Row 22: k1, (k2tog, k4) x 6 (31sts)

Row 23: p

Row 24: k1, (k2tog, k3) x 6 (25sts)

Row 25: p

Row 26: k1, (k2tog, k2) x 6 (19sts)

Row 27: p

Row 28: k1, (k2tog) x 9 (10sts)

Pull through to cast off.

Making up

Sew the side edges together, leaving cast-on edge open.

Bunny ears (make 2)

Using 4mm needles, cast on 11sts in pale grey. Row 1 to 15: k

Row 16: k1, k2tog, k rem sts (10sts)

Row 17 to 23: rpt row 16 7 times (3sts)

Row 24: k1, k2tog (2sts)

Row 25: k2tog

Fasten off.

Making up

Fold the cast-on edge in half and sew onto the top of the cosy. Embroider a small black triangle for nose. Add a small white pom-pom on the back. Refer to photo as a guide.

Chick wings (make 2)

Using 4mm needles, cast on 3sts in yellow.

Row 1: k1, kfb, k1 (4sts)

Row 2: k

Row 3: k1, kfb, kfb, k1 (6sts)

Row 4 to 10: k 7 rows

Row 11: k1, k2tog, k2tog, k1 (4sts)

Cast off.

Making up

Fold the cast-on edge in half and sew onto the sides of the cosy. Embroider a small orange triangle for nose. Refer to photo as a guide.

Lamb ears (make 2)

Using 4mm needles, cast on 5sts in cream.

Row 1 to 5: k

Row 6 to 7: k2tog, k to end (3sts)

Cast off.

Making up

Fold the cast-on edge in half and sew onto the sides of the cosy with ends pointing down. Embroider a small black Y for nose. Refer to photo as a guide.

Chicken comb (make 1)

Using 4mm needles, cast on 8sts in red.

Row 1: k

Cast off 5sts, k to end (3sts)

Next row: k

Cast on 4sts, k to end (7sts)

Next row: k

Cast off 4sts, k to end (3sts)

Next row: k

Cast on 3sts, k to end (6sts)

Next row: k

Cast off.

Making up

Sew in ends and attach to the top of the cosy. Embroider a small yellow triangle for nose. Refer to photo as a guide.

Notes

All pieces are worked flat on straight needles. Cast on using thumb method.

All cosies are the same basic shape and size with different additions to create character. Use mattress stitch to sew edges together.
