FROM CHAIR TO TABLE
An aged wooden chair finds a new use as an unusual bedside table. The wood can be left untouched or painted with emulsion or chalk paint in a subtle shade to complement the surroundings, without drawing too much focus. A weathered look can be achieved by removing some of the paint, once it has dried, with a piece of steel wool or sandpaper to reveal the wood beneath. This will give the chair a beautiful, time-worn appearance. Leaving areas of flaking paint will only add to its authenticity. Depending on its design, the seat may be slightly uneven or lower than an average bedside table and would therefore suit a more decorative purpose. A mirror with an ornate frame can be rested against the back of the chair or a simple arrangement of flowers added to bring colour to the room.
