CUSHION OF LEAVES

-

A vintage chair nestles among the frothy greenery of a cottage border on a bed of powder blue forget-me-nots. Treasured items or pieces of furniture that no longer find a use in the home can make for a striking garden feature or trellis for scrambling climbers. The woven, fabric-like texture of wicker furniture in particular is ideal for plant supports; the tight grooves and crevices of the basket weave allows curling tendrils to wrap around the structure. A varnish can be applied to the willow, rattan or reed to help protect it from the elements or it can simply be left to age naturally; slowly merging into the surroundings as nature takes its hold.
