WELCOME TO LATE TACKLE
APOLOGIES for the longer than expected break between editions. The coronavirus pandemic has had an impact right across society and our sympathies go to all those who have lost loved ones over the last few months.
We wondered at one stage if the 2019-20 season would be completed and, thankfully, football has been able to return as Covid-19’s impact has slowed.
In this edition, we look at what has been the most bizarre season any of us can recall. As I pen these notes in mid-July, it’s still going on...
Thanks to everyone who has contributed articles for this edition and waited patiently for it to be published. We’ve got features on the likes of Jack Charlton, Sheffield United, Bob Paisley and VAR, among others. We hope there is something for everyone to enjoy.
If you fancy writing for the magazine please get in touch. You can send submissions and ideas to latetackle@hotmail.co.uk
We read everything that comes in and use the best stuff each issue. Please do remember that as the magazine is printed only every six weeks or so, we can’t use timesensitive pieces.
That aside, the main rule is there are no rules: as long as your piece is about football (pretty crucial, that) and on the right side of legal, we’ll consider it for publication.
We just want stuff that is interesting, funny, poignant, insightful, or maybe even all four.
John Lyons, editor
