Daltons are ice cream of the crop for award

STRAWBERRIES and cream scooped a major award for a Wootton family.

The Dalton family have won a Great Taste Award 2018 for their wild strawberries and cream ice cream.

The classic flavour has proved very popular, especially during all the ‘ice cream’ weather this summer.

Daltons Dairy, based in the village, have strengthened their position as Great Taste producers – last year they won an award for their vanilla ice cream.

The ice cream is made using milk and cream from their herd of cows. It is handmade in small batches to give the product its unique taste and flavour.

Henry Dalton said: “Ultimately it is the cows that deserve a lot of the credit. They graze the fields for most of the year and this outdoor life enhances the creaminess of the milk.”

Daltons now has a range of ice cream flavours together with a selection of sorbets.

Their ice cream is sold locally in pubs, restaurants and farm shops and they have an ice cream cart for hiring out at weddings and events.

Ice cream can also be purchased directly from the farm at their small ‘honesty shop,’ where you call in, choose your ice cream and leave the correct money.
